Here is a review of the Texas Associated Broadcasters conference call on Thursday, March 29, 2102, with:

-- RADIO VICE PRESIDENT: Matt Thomas, KRLD, Dallas

1. TAPB Balance, as of March 29, 2012:
-- $41,396.97
2. Board approved payment of following BILLS:
-- $50 April payment to webmaster Noble Sprayberry
-- Global Crossing/Feb. 23 conference call: $37.59
-- Diana Heidgerd/TAPB contest/convention reimbursement (see attached documents):
A. $300 for six TAPB board member $50 gift cards/thank-you for serving the past year
B. $341.35 for hotel night for each board member at Marriott Springhill Suites/Addison for March 3 board meeting at Dallas AP
C. $661.93 from Grubbs Graphics for 2nd place award certificates.
D. $392.95. FedEx Office, for 200 banquet programs (regular 16-page program, plus 1-page insert with Newscast winners, to be handed out after announcement) .
TOTAL TO DIANA: $1,696.23

3. HEADLINERS FOUNDATION/TAPB annual scholarship contribution?
-- Board decided to double the amount given last year, so this year's TAPB contribution will be $2,000. Winner is Alexa Ura, a sophomore at University of Texas in Austin. She will be at Saturday's TAPB banquet.
4. ADD to Saturday's TAPB business session agenda an item on whether to try to hold annual convention in Austin each year, instead of rotating to other cities. Bigger crowds at Austin event.

A. 2011-2012 TAPB Contest Review:
-- Total stations entered: 48 (36 TV & 12 radio)
-- Total entries: $788 (640 TV & 148 radio)
-- Total entry fees paid: $35,320
B. Proposed Contest Changes?
-- Board will review time limits placed on some TAPB contest entries and consider the possibility of extending those time limits on categories that include those limitations.
-- Allow radio/TV professionals from states neighboring Texas to serve as judges in Texas AP Broadcasters contest? Currently radio/TV professionals in neighboring states are not allowed to judge Texas AP contest due to concerns about overlap of markets.
C. Discussion on whether TAPB convention/awards banquet should be held every year in Austin, instead of just every other year. Turnout is usually much higher in Austin. Approximately 150 people attending Saturday night's banquet.

5. Louisiana AP/Contest
-- Barry Bedlan asked whether some TAPB board members, who don't have sister stations in Louisiana, might be available to help judge Louisiana AP contest. Some TAPB board members might be able to help.

Board will convene Saturday afternoon, March 31, at the Headliners Club in Austin for the group's annual business session.
